4th Quarter Finance Resources

4th Quarter Finance Resources

Introduction

If you attended (or will attend) our workshop on faith + family + finances, you know we covered some core ideas: being intentional, building healthy rhythms, discipling younger generations, and stewarding resources (time, money, spiritual) well. To keep the momentum going, here are books, podcasts, and free online tools that will help you dig deeper — whether you’re a teen, a parent, a mentor, or someone leading in your home or community.

🎧 Podcasts Worth Listening To

  • Intentional Fatherhood Podcast (hosts Brook Mosser & Justin Whitmel Earley) — A rich, biblically-rooted podcast aimed at fathers but relevant for anyone who leads in a home: husbands, teen mentors, step-parents. It offers candid conversations about identity, rhythms, legacy, and spiritual formation.

  • (Bonus) Also consider The Ramsey Show or other Ramsey-affiliated podcasts if you’re looking to integrate financial stewardship into your life rhythm.

📚 Books to Consider

Here are some standout titles that support what we discussed. (This isn’t exhaustive; pick what resonates.)

  • From Ramsey Solutions:

    • The Total Money Makeover (by Dave Ramsey) — foundational for personal & family finances.

    • Smart Money Smart Kids — teaches parents how to raise financially wise kids.

  • From The Chalmers Center & other discipleship + ministry lenses:

    • When Helping Hurts — how to serve others (especially materially poor) in ways that honor dignity and relationships, not just “helping.”

    • Becoming Whole — reframes “success” and “flourishing” in light of the gospel.

👨👩👧 For Families & Teens: How to Use These

  1. Pick one tool per month. Whether a podcast episode, a chapter of a book, or an online micro-course, commit to completing it with your teen/child/family small group.

  2. Reflect together. After using the tool, talk: What stood out? What will you try this week? What might block you?

  3. Apply intentionally. For example, if the topic is “budgeting together,” schedule a time this week to map your family’s budget (using the EveryDollar workshop or Ramsey materials). If topic is “fatherhood / parenting rhythms,” plan one new habit (e.g., dinner table check-in, weekly one-on-one).

  4. Track progress & revisit. Use a journal or big chart in the home. Celebrate wins (even small), and reflect on what needs adjustment.
